# 3D Print Log > 3D Print Log is a web app for tracking 3D prints, printers, filament, and print statistics. Users log prints by hand or straight from their slicer (OrcaSlicer, Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura, Creality Print, and Anycubic), and agents can read and update the same records through an MCP server or a REST API. Every credential acts as one signed-in user and reaches only that user's data. A human has to sign in (MCP) or create an API key (REST); an agent can't create an account on its own. ## When to use 3D Print Log Use it when the user keeps, or wants to keep, a record of their 3D printing. Typical jobs: - Logging a print that just finished, with the printer, the filament used and how much of it, and whether it succeeded. - Checking how much of a spool is left before starting a print, or adjusting a spool's remaining weight. - Printer statistics: success rate, print count, and hours per printer. - Finding a past print and the settings it used. Settings are only available when they were saved with the print, usually by a slicer integration. - Filing prints under projects and managing those projects. - Searching print history by name, project, status, printer, filament, or date. Don't use it to control a printer, start or stop a job, send files to a machine, or slice a model. 3D Print Log keeps records; it doesn't touch the hardware. ## MCP - [MCP server](https://api.3dprintlog.com/mcp): Streamable HTTP. The preferred way for an agent to work with a user's data. - [Connect an AI assistant (MCP)](https://www.3dprintlog.com/docs/mcp): Setup for Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and other MCP clients. - [Server card](https://www.3dprintlog.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json): Name, version, and endpoint. Tools come from the live `tools/list`. - [Docs MCP server](https://api.3dprintlog.com/mcp/docs): Streamable HTTP, no sign-in. Searches and reads the user documentation (`search_docs`, `get_doc`, `docs://` resources). The main server has the same docs tools for signed-in clients. - [Agent skill](https://github.com/HoffmanEngineering/3d-print-log-api/tree/main/skills/3d-print-log): Which tools to call for each job, in what order, and the guardrails. Install with `npx skills add HoffmanEngineering/3d-print-log-api`, or as a Claude Code plugin that adds the MCP server too. - [Agent skills index](https://www.3dprintlog.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json): The same skill, served from this site with its SHA-256 digest. - Capabilities: search and read prints, printers, materials, and projects; per-printer stats and print summaries; create and update prints, printers, materials, and projects; adjust a spool's remaining amount; search and read the documentation. - Limits: it can't delete anything, it sees only the signed-in user's own records, and it returns structured data only (no photos, comments, or files). - Auth: OAuth 2.0 authorization code with PKCE, scopes `read:printdata` and `write:printdata`. An unauthenticated request returns `401` with a `resource_metadata` link (RFC 9728). ## API - [OpenAPI document](https://api.3dprintlog.com/swagger/v1/swagger.json): Machine-readable description of the REST API at `https://api.3dprintlog.com/api`.
